The distance between Vienna and Sofia is about 1000 km, or about an hour and a half flight by plane. In today's global world, this is the time it takes you to get to the office. The closeness between Vienna and Bulgaria for almost two centuries now affects the cultural influences that the capital of the former dualistic monarchy exerts on the Balkan states. The Viennese way of life has its own particular charm, the Italians would call it dolce vita, with a slight flavor of tradition, conservative opulence and the captivating melody of classical music.
One of the symbols of Viennese buildings is the beautiful lighting fixtures that emphasize the splendor of the interior. The elegance of Viennese chandeliers dates back to the 19th century and gradually conquered Europe and the world, and nowadays this Austrian masterpiece is part of the luxury and beauty of the most famous theaters and operas, parliaments, embassies and hotels, exclusive private villas, residences and homes.
The Bakalowits Licht Design company was founded in 1845 by Elias Bakalowitz, who opened a shop - "Elias Bakalowitz, Glass Manufacturer and Merchant" located in the Hoher Markt area. The Bakalowitz family has been a world leader in the luxury lighting market for more than 170 years, and there is no world city where its products are not present. Over the years, tradition, class and high quality remain unchanged, with each successive generation in the family developing and adding something new, expanding the classic vision with modern solutions, new lines and adapting to the world outside of Europe - the company offers and realizes its products in the United States, the Middle East, Asia and even in countries of the Pacific basin.
The uniqueness of Bakalowits is in several aspects. Tradition, rich knowledge and experience make it possible to achieve a modern and characteristic vision when making the bodies. Authenticity is maintained as each body is made with the highest quality materials, exclusively in the workshop in Vienna, and receives the corresponding certificate of origin. In its pursuit of exclusivity, the company distances itself from mass taste and offers the possibility of a full service - making a design to order for a specific client, installation and maintenance, even restoration of lighting fixtures that are not of their production. The richness of the Bakalowits portfolio is astonishing – it includes more than 10,000 designs – both in historical and contemporary lines.
Since the summer of this year, Bakalowits company has its official representative in Bulgaria - Advance International. In December, the official premiere of the brand is coming in Sofia, and next year 2023, the opening of the brand's showroom.
