In our 20th anniversary year, our commitment to supporting culture remains a key part of our mission to contribute to societal development and to position Bulgaria as a prestigious international destination.
“Gala in Sofia 2026” will take place on August 25 and 27 at the iconic square in front of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and continues to establish itself as an international cultural event with wide public and media recognition. The event is organized by the production company SY11 Events, in partnership with the Sofia Opera and Ballet, and with the support of the Sofia Municipality and the Bulgarian Patriarchate. Following the remarkable success of the previous edition, which attracted over 10,000 attendees, the 2026 festival is expected to reach an even broader audience and welcome up to 20,000 guests across the two evenings.
The program features two exceptional events with a strong international and Italian cultural focus. On August 25, the audience will enjoy a concert performance of Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Tosca”, starring Sonya Yoncheva and world-renowned tenor Jonas Kaufmann. On August 27, a gala evening will take place featuring the virtuoso violinist David Garrett, conducted by Leonardo Sini.
The champion in modern crossovers between classical and pop music, David Garrett includes Bulgaria as part of his super successful world tour – at the invitation of the Bulgarian opera prima Sonia Yoncheva. The concert “Blue Night” will be held at St. Alexander Nevsky Square, in which connoisseurs will enjoy a unique mix of beloved classical works and popular modern hits, which will sound for the first time with the voice of Yoncheva and the violin of Garrett. In our country, he will present some of the pieces from his new album “Millennium Symphony”, in which he interprets popular works from the last two decades.
Following HAUSER's announcement to cancel all of its concerts until the end of the year due to health problems, the inclusion of David Garrett in the program of "Gala in Sofia" 2026 gives a chance not only to preserve the "Blue Night" concert, but also to perform it at the highest possible world level, which the festival audience deserves. Tickets purchased for the HAUSER concert are valid without revalidation for the David Garrett concert.
