Location
Bankya is a small and picturesque town, 6 km west of Sofia. It is located in the vicinity of Lyulin Mountain. The town is very green and sunny, with a moderate continental climate, light mountain breeze, healing mineral springs (temperature 36.5 oC) - all these determine the development of Bankya as a prestigious national and international resort, an ecological reserve of Sofia.
Bankya developed as resort for rehabilitation of cardio-vascular conditions with highly specialized functional diagnostics ( many for post-infraction conditions and heart operations, arterial hypertonia). It is suitable for treathment of cardio-vascular diseases, nervous system disturbances, metabolic disturbances.
An operating complex for recuperation, prophylactics and fitness of rheutism of children was found. The specialists are satisfied with the established durable positive results and favourable curative effect of the tratment of cerebral palsy of children, neurois, thyreotoxicosis of adults, etc. Good effect is achieved on functional disease of the nervous system.

Description
The predominant buildings in the town are from the period 1950-1980, distinguished in several quarters and holiday house areas close to the center. Bankya has development perspectives as a location for year-round living, vacation, sports and entertainment complexes and tourist zones.
There are several state schools in the town - Comprehensive High School No. 78 Hristo Smirnenski at 19 Hristo Smirnenski Str., Vocational High School in Tourism at 5 Al. Stamboliyski Blvd., and also many private schools - Daga (5 Tzaribrodska Str.), Foti (2 Panaiot Volov Str.), Druzhba (63 Varna Blvd.). At 5 Tzaribrodska Str. there is also the Daga Kindergarten. Bulgaria Primary School is located at 11 Kiril i Metodiy Str. In the near-by Ivanyane village there is a Private High School Euro School Rovel at 66 Leonid Alexeevich Str.
