LOCATION: The quarter is one of the oldest village zones of Sofia and at present it is considered a preferred location of the middle class. It is situated on a hill over Sofia, between the ring road, the Bonsovi Poliani summer huse zone and the Vitosha National Park. The region is famous for its healing mineral springs.

DESCRIPTION: The housing development of the quarter began in the last century, mainly with season villas. At present, new single-family houses and blocks of flats are constructed. New luxurious houses with green yards are predominately built. Recently investors have been mainly interested in purchasing terrains for the construction of small houses or blocks of flats as well as gated housing complexes. There are several schools in the district - the Italian lyceum at 21 Vechernitza Str., Deutsche Schule at 42A Nikolai Hrelkov Str., and the Orpheus Music and Choreography Primary School at 6 Obzor Str. The Dr. Maria Montesori Private Primary School with Foreign Language Teaching is located at 21 Vechernitza Str. The quarter is famous for its healing mineral springs. The Gorna Banya Diplomatic Club and the Traumatology and Orthopedics Scientific Institute are also located here. Gorna Banya is situated on a high location, which offers a splendid panorama to the city of Sofia and Vitosha and Lyulin mountains. The clean air and the mineral springs are two of its great advantages.

TRANSPORT: Access to the quarter is convenient and well organized. The bus lines which the district residents could use are 103 and 260, which goes to the city centre.
