Admission will be free for all lovers of classical and contemporary music for the Bulgarian debut of global sensation DJ Charles B on August 23 at 8:00 PM at St. Alexander Nevsky Square. Through this gesture, world-renowned Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva and the Sofia Municipality aim to make the magic of classical music- presented with a modern twist - accessible to as many people as possible. The event is suitable for youth, children, families, fans of the genre, or anyone experiencing the greatest masterpieces of world classics mixed with electronic music for the very first time. Visitors will be admitted to the festival space in front of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral up to maximum capacity. A warm-up act is also scheduled.

This large-scale open-air DJ party marks the launch of the "Gala in Sofia" 2026 festival, which takes place this year in its most ambitious edition yet - spanning three separate evenings with a diverse lineup: on August 25, the opera Tosca will feature the world's leading tenor Jonas Kaufmann alongside Sonya Yoncheva in the title role, followed by the "Blue Night" concert with the king of the violin David Garrett and Sonya Yoncheva on August 27. Both events will be accompanied by the Sofia Opera Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by Grigor Palikarov and Leonardo Sini, respectively.

About Charles B:

Born in Paris in 1997, the French DJ, producer, and internet phenomenon Charles Berbineau - professionally known as Charles B - is among the brightest names of the new generation on the European electronic scene. In just a few years, he has rocketed to global stardom thanks to his unique "Classical Meets Techno" concept, which fuses classical masterpieces with modern electronic beats.

Charles B gained international fame with his striking interpretations of works by Vivaldi, Mozart, and Beethoven, turning them into grand spectacles that reach millions of listeners worldwide. Thanks to him, the works of classical giants have found a home on TikTok, with his videos and music projects accumulating hundreds of millions of views across social media (over 500 million in the last 12 months alone). His performances prove that the works of musical geniuses can resonate with new generations through the language of the modern electronic scene. His unique approach has earned praise from industry icons such as David Guetta, Calvin Harris, and Tiësto.

The artist has performed at some of the world's most prestigious electronic music festivals, including Tomorrowland, and has showcased his projects at iconic locations around the globe - such as the Great Wall of China and the Moroccan desert. Earlier this year, he performed a sold-out show for 100,000 people in India. Having brought his innovative parties to over 50 countries, it is now Bulgaria's turn to join the list under the banner of "Gala in Sofia."

Extending an invitation to this young, accomplished, and world-renowned European artist is part of Sonya Yoncheva's ongoing mission to bridge genres, generations, and audiences—making classical music more accessible to young people and investing in the future of modern art. The DJ party on August 23 at St. Alexander Nevsky Square will bear the title "Unlimited." This embodies the exact spirit of the younger generation that Sonya Yoncheva aims to draw toward classical music.
