From the First Partnership with Christie’s to Masters Circle 2026 – A Story of Trust, Standards and Long-Term Vision
Nearly two decades ago, Bulgaria took one of its most important steps on the luxury real estate market. In 2007, Christie’s Great Estates chose to enter the country through a partnership with the Bulgarian company Unique Estates. At first glance, this may have looked like a business transaction. In reality, however, it was a sign that an international brand with exceptionally high standards saw potential in the local market and in the team that would represent it. At the time, Bulgaria became the first of the 12 newly acceded European Union member states in which Christie’s entered through an affiliate partner. This placed the country in a different position — not merely as an emerging market, but as a destination capable of meeting international standards in the highest segment of the real estate business.
The Step That Opened Bulgaria to the Global Market
On 27 June 2007, Unique Estates officially became part of the Christie’s Great Estates network. This gave the Bulgarian company access to an international client base, global know-how and a working model in which reputation is built slowly and consistently. For Bulgarian clients, this meant access to carefully selected properties and consulting at a level known from the most developed markets. For foreign investors, the company became a local partner with in-depth knowledge of the environment, regulations and opportunities in the country. It was during these years that Bulgaria also began to position itself more broadly as a destination for high-end investment.
Partnerships That Built on the Model
In 2016, Unique Estates became the exclusive partner for Bulgaria of Luxury Portfolio International — the largest international luxury real estate network within Leading Real Estate Companies of the World. The effect came quickly. Just one year later, Bulgaria was chosen for the global premiere of the Global Luxury Report — a move that placed Sofia in the focus of the international industry days before the official global presentation of the analysis. This was an important sign of trust in the Bulgarian company and in the way it had succeeded in positioning the country before an international audience.
New Recognition from Christie’s
On 20 November 2024, Unique Estates was appointed as the official representative of Christie’s International Real Estate for Bulgaria. The renewal of the partnership took place by invitation — a practice reserved for companies with a proven reputation, stable results and a sustainable business model. Today, the Christie’s International Real Estate network spans 50 countries, nearly 900 offices and sales exceeding EUR 470 billion over the past five years.

That is why, in this sector, trust has greater value than advertising. Today, more than half of Unique Estates’ transactions each month come from long-standing clients who return to the company. This demonstrates how important personal relationships and a consultative approach are in the segment.

Expectations are that this year more than 165,000 millionaires worldwide will change the country in which they live. Against this backdrop, Bulgaria is gradually beginning to attract interest with a combination of low taxes, no inheritance tax and relatively simplified regulations. This makes the role of the local partner key. International investors are not simply looking for a broker, but for a company that can provide a realistic assessment of the market, security and expertise.

The latest recognition comes with Christie’s International Real Estate’s Masters Circle 2026 — a distinction awarded to the highest-performing consultants within the global network. This year, among the 504 recognized professionals are six consultants from Unique Estates. This is recognition not only of individual results, but also of the standard that the company has managed to maintain over the years.

Twenty years after its establishment, Unique Estates no longer merely follows international standards — it actively participates in establishing them on the Bulgarian market.
