One of the most beautiful and emblematic properties for the old architecture of Sofia is now in our portfolio. Located in the heart of the city, lavish and aristocratically discreet, stately and poetic, it embodies the idea of prestige.
Every time you pass from there - through the intersection of the boulevards "Knyaz Al. Dondukov" and "Vasil Levski", the gaze, consciously or not, registers a detail of the beautiful building that peeks through the crowns of the trees and the gorgeous greenery of the garden. This property is the essence of the most refined emotional impact of Sofia, of its history, of its connection with European traditions and criteria, of its undeniable aesthetics.
The building is considered the first Secession building in Sofia. It was built in 1904 for the private gynecological clinic of the Austrian doctor Adolf Funk by tandem architects Kiro Marichkov and Georgi Fingov, whose erudition, talent and taste created the elite urban appearance of our capital. Dr. Funk's house is an architectural jewel that has added to its value both segments of the paths of iconic personalities and watersheds of great historical events. After its completion in 1904, it became a real sensation and citizens of the capital went for a long walk to the "nice house of Dr. Funk" to admire it (then it was located on the outskirts of Sofia, in the middle of a sea of natural greenery) . The discretion and elegance with which the style is interpreted is complemented by the charm of the interior spaces.
After returning to Austria, Dr. Funk sold the house to Spas Tyufekchiev. He rented it to Atanas Burov, and in 1927 his son Alexander Tyufekchiev gambled it away. Dr. Boris Trikov buys the house for BGN 2 million. With the dedication of a true professional, he turned it back into a gynecological clinic, modernized it, equipped it with modern medical equipment imported from Vienna. About twenty years later, nationalization followed. In 1991, the house was returned to the daughters of Dr. Trichkov. They ensure that the priceless architectural jewel continues to live fully and becomes part of the prestige of iconic companies and institutions. For many years, the house housed the central office of the insurance company Allianz Bulgaria Holding.
Today, the two buildings of the property are surrounded by a beautifully arranged garden with alleys and security and with entrances from the "Knyaz Al" Blvd. Dondukov", and from "Vasil Levski" Blvd. Behind the buildings is a large parking lot for about 40 cars with a separate entrance from "Chataldzha" street. The interior of the main building is on two levels and has an attic space with a total of fifteen work rooms and five bathrooms. The second building has seven work rooms and two bathrooms. The distribution, the presence of two levels and a garden allow the creation of a wide variety of areas. The aesthetic and emotional wealth of the property, as well as the comfort it provides, makes it one of the priceless islands in the center of Sofia.
