We present to you a unique selection of wine from our partners and friends
Encore Syrah 2012 at Katarzyna Estate has been a huge success for Bulgaria by receiving a gold medal for 2018 at Syrah du Monde's most renowned Syrah Syrah. This high recognition the wine receives for the second consecutive year. So our country ranks among the best wine producers in the world and has proved to be a wine destination that claims to be an important factor in the world production of quality wines.
We meet Tsvetelina Nikolova, Managing Director of the Katarzyna Winery, to tell us more about Bulgaria's position on the world wine map and the trends in the wine consumers' preferences around the world.
Where is Bulgaria on the world wine card today?
The prizes our wine has been awarded in recent years at top global competitions give us reason to stand up to the big winemakers, to countries with centuries-old wine-making tradition. Our entire team is dedicated to tracking and implementing global trends in the field and constantly adapting the company's position to the new market conditions. The high rating and results achieved by Katarzyna Estate have a positive impact on the overall image of Bulgaria as a producer of quality wines. It turns out that with our work we manage to give a good example to the other Bulgarian companies by investing in new production technologies and in the qualification of our entire team. These processes lead to an increase in the quality of Bulgarian wine as a whole. Our efforts were rewarded with high international recognition. We are proud of our success, because among the priorities of our company has always been the building of a better image of Bulgaria as a world winemaker.
Which varieties of Bulgarian wine are most appreciated in the world?
Currently, the world trend is the demand for wines from local varieties such as Mavrud and Rubin for Bulgaria. Recently, we have been working on the planting of such plantations as well as on the higher recognition of these Bulgarian varieties worldwide. We believe that this will have a very positive impact on the overall interest in our wines and our country.
Which world markets are already offering the Katarzyna wine?
The company's policy is mainly focused on the presence of our best wines in the list of top restaurants in the world, as well as in selected specialized wine shops. Katarzyna Wine's wines can now taste Michelin-starred restaurants in China, as well as Japan, USA, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, England and others. Our plans for the near future are to increase our presence in the markets in England, Germany, Canada and America.
What are the preferences of wine consumers in recent years?
Our company is guided mainly by global trends. Taking into account the high demand for organic wines in the world, Katarzyna Estate responds to this trend by launching the new Calisto series - three red bio wines with our label, which go out in July. Overall, organic production is among our priorities for the future.
Another trend that emerges from world wine consumption is the increased demand for wines with a lower alcoholic degree, especially for white species. Reds are increasingly looking for lighter wines that do not feel as oak as the natural aroma and taste of fresh grapes.
Katarzyna Portfolio includes suggestions for every taste in a different price class but as an innovative company - we are trying to follow the world's attitudes and to be able to offer wines that are consistent with the global trends.
Traveling around the world, meeting high-level experts, our team strives to get first-person information about the latest developments in wine production, supply and consumption.
One of the missions of our company is to raise the wine culture of the Bulgarian consumer, to introduce them to what is happening in the world with the qualities of good wine and the pleasure of the drink.
