Over the last two months, Unique Estates’ team has taken us to many exotic and warm locations around the world. But this time we are heading on a real winter experience. We slide down the frosty slopes of the Italian and Swiss Alps, together with Milen Marinov, Senior Legal Advisor of the company.
Over the past 6-7 years, Milen has been keeping the tradition of spending at least a week up in the mountains with friends who share his passion for skiing and winter sports. During that time, the group managed to tour most of the famous ski resorts in the world.
This time they choose the slopes of Livigno, settled in the heart of the Italian Alps. The resort is located on the border with Switzerland and is a favourite place for those who want to combine skiing in both countries. "In Livigno there are over 100km perfectly maintained slopes suitable for professionals, advanced or beginners. The resort's location implies all-day sun-lit terrain for skiing, which is absolutely great. I like the alpine tracks because they are wide and long, a real pleasure. We were skiing all day long, "Milen says.
In Livigno there are mainly tourists from Central and Eastern Europe. The resort is a duty-free area where goods and services are at really good prices. This, as well as the wonderful Italian food, with alpine signature, also attracted Milen's group. On one of the days, however, they went skiing the slopes of St. Moritz - the Swiss ski resort of high class.
Milen is an avid mountaineer and skier. If he does not ski, he is often out for long walks in the mountains, regardless of the season and temperatures outside. He says he has not seen so much snow in the Alps for the last 5-6 years. The temperatures while they were skiing this time were between -10 and -20 degrees Celsius. He defines himself as a skier who always approaches the mountain with attention and respect.
For the next year, the group plans to ski in Tyrol. "The Austrian resort Ischgl is renowned for its endless slopes and exciting nightlife. It is said that the Alps there are glowing when the lights elsewhere around are all switched off. This time we have not been able to visit it, but I keep it on my wish list for our ski trip next year, "Milen says.
We thank him for the story and footage of this beautiful winter adventure!
